Mobile setup station
One week design sprint.
"Before we dive into things I need to ask you on thing- can you design in it a week?", this is how it all started.
Soluto approached me after the designer they worked with failed to deliver what they wanted with a week left to design and manufacture a working prototype for a demo with a very (very) big client in the US (under NDA).
Not knowing much I went for it, laying out whats possible in this time frame- day one concept brainstorming, day two we choose a design direction (out of three concepts), day three iterations and from that point forward- production in-order to leave enough time for getting a perfect fit.
The brief- we created an app that syncs and backs up old phones for technophobes and we want a cardboard box to house an Ipad and a smartphone to give the customer a reassuring feeling while he is parted from his phone for the backup process.

The brief... we want a cardboard box to house an Ipad and a smartphone to give the customer a reassuring feeling while he is parted from his phone for the backup process.

After trying a few different directions we settled on a layered construction.
This goes for the cardboard but also to the smartphone and Ipad. This also worked with their plan to add an element to the app design that address the smartphone.
The cardboard pieces were laser cut to ensure a perfect fit, and glued together. Keeping things simple so if there would be a need to create more stations while doing the demo anyone could do it.

We wanted to create a sense of security for the customers. We managed to do so but physically connecting the app with an overlapping of the phone over the Ipad screen.

Ipad and smartphone were designed to slip in from the top.
